How To Choose Between Kids Playhouses

There are such a wide range of kids playhouses on the market that it can be something of an overwhelming experience when you come to choose the right one for your home and children. So how can you make sure you are spending money on something that will work for you and your family, rather than wasting money on something that will be forgotten by your children too soon?

You will need to weigh up the pros and cons between different types of playhouses to narrow down your search. Kids playhouses basically come in plastic or wooden varieties, so first choose which of these you want to go for. Plastic playhouses tend to be a little cheaper than wooden varieties, but can also be used indoors and outdoors so are more suitable for a range of weather conditions. Plastic playhouses also tend to have more features than wooden ones, with many having real working features to them, such as ringing doorbells and other sound effects, lights, kitchens and themed walls to make for a more satisfying role play experience for children. A plastic playhouse will be very simple to put together, arriving in a few pieces which slot together easily, meaning within an hour you can have the playhouse set up and ready for kids to start enjoying.

Wooden playhouses, however, are only really suitable for the garden, but once built can actually become a little home away from home for your children. More elaborate, and generally larger, sometimes with more than one level, and frequently with other attachments such as swing and slide sets, or even an upper floor. The wooden sets take a lot longer to put together but are also more durable than plastic playhouses, built to last for years and see generations of children enjoy them. With a wooden playhouse you also have the option to paint and redecorate, which kids will love as it offers them a chance to make their little home their own.

Think about the size before you choose a playhouse. If the playhouse is going to live in the garden then you should measure out a space where it can comfortably sit and won’t be in the way of anything else you may have going on in your garden. In this case it can be larger though, and you can think about more elaborate versions, suitable for whole groups of children. If you are choosing a plastic version then you really just need to fit it into a corner of a room. You will still want to take measurements though, as it would be disappointing to buy a playhouse which doesn’t fit anywhere!

Finally, ask your children what they want from a playhouse and take their suggestions on board before you start looking, so you can be sure they will love and look after their playhouse for years to come.
